An innovative project focused on solving mobility and logistics challenges in cities.
Created as a innovative collaboration between Aalborg Muncipality and Homerunner.

MoLo Hubs goes beyond current mobility hub projects. It aims to reduce urban traffic by initiating and implementing new and convenient logistics services in urban mobility hubs.
Today, 73% of the EU population lives in cities and urban areas. By 2050, that number will increase to 83%, and therefore the demand for mobility services, well-organized urban logistics processes and commercial transport in cities will go up. At the same time, end-user demand for convenient services in cities will grow.
To achieve the European Green Deal's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050, urban logistics processes and services need to be rethought.
As part of this private-public project, Homerunner has installed 50 white-label parcel boxes at strategic locations around Aalborg.
The parcel boxes make it easy and convenient to send and receive parcels and store items. The parcel boxes can also be used to drop off hazardous waste.

With increased urbanization, we face many transport-related problems, such as increased noise and air pollution, traffic congestion, high parking pressure and accident costs.
Shared mobility solutions can facilitate the mobility transition and have the potential to become one of the pillars of a sustainable urban mobility system. It increases the use and efficiency of transportation, supports the shift to sustainable transport modes and reduces car dependency
But to activate the potential of shared mobility hubs, their convenience and functions must be expanded.
MoLo Hubs have a strong focus on initiating and implementing new logistics services in mobility hubs to reduce commercial traffic in urban areas caused by logistics operations.
At the same time, work is being done to increase the functionality and convenience of mobility hubs for users, improving their usability and attractiveness.

Take a look at how our +45 boxes are placed in Aalborg muncipality,
where they're used for collecting dangerous garbage, textiles and other sustainable functions.

Therefore, MoLo Hubs not only create a shift in traffic to green and active modes of transportation, but also new and innovative urban value chains.
MoLo Hubs are being implemented in 5 regions and address all aspects of a typical product lifecycle (distribution - repair - disposal) by implementing pilot projects in all phases of such product lifecycles.
By combining logistics services with mobility hubs, users are incentivized to use and frequent the mobility hubs more often. This will lead to a decrease in traffic congestion, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and optimized accessibility and use of public space.
In addition, digital solutions will be used in the individual pilot projects to give users easy and intelligent access to new logistics services. The project's distinguishing feature will be the strong focus on the human-centered approach.
The inclusion of user needs from the very beginning, the incorporation of intelligent spatial planning and urban design aspects as well as social aspects will support the acceptance and prospects of success of the tested solutions throughout the project lifetime and beyond.
