Med24 is a Scandinavian online pharmacy founded in 2004, when CEO Nils Træholt saw untapped potential in bringing pharmacy products online.
Since then, Med24 has grown into a major e-commerce retailer with a highly automated warehouse holding over 20,000 products. Their vending-machine storage system saves significant space and supports fast, efficient order handling.
Expanding outside of the EU
The Norwegian market was a huge challenge
As Med24 grew, CEO Nils Træholt naturally looked toward Sweden and Norway, markets with similar products and strong demand.
But Norway quickly proved challenging due to customs rules, duties and restrictions, and Med24 nearly gave up several times, struggling with complex import handling and high freight costs.
That changed when Homerunner entered the picture, helping Med24 access better parcel prices through shared volume and negotiated freight agreements.

Freight prices weren’t the only challenge in Norway. The real barrier was the complexity of customs handling, which demanded far more time and resources than Med24 could spare.
New solutions were needed.
According to CEO Nils Træholt, their updated IT setup now handles customs efficiently without adding extra workload, giving Med24 a strong competitive edge by overcoming one of the toughest hurdles in cross-border e-commerce.
